5 Days Uganda Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari from Kigali

During this once-in-a-lifetime encounter, you will track the critically endangered mountain gorillas in the park. Chimpanzee trekking and a trip to the Bigodi wetlands are both highlights of the second leg of your adventure, which takes you to the Kibale Forest National Park. Your final destination will be determined by where you’d like to be dropped off: Kampala or Kigali.

Day 1: Kigali to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Our tour guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali and take you across the border into Uganda at the Katuna Immigration border post. From there, they will take you to the northern part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park. At a speed of 60 kilometers per hour, this beautiful drive will take around three hours to complete.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience
Before beginning your gorilla trek, you should get up early and eat breakfast before making your way to the park headquarters to receive a safety briefing from the ranger guides. Go into the jungle and keep hiking until you come to the gorillas. The amount of time spent gorilla trekking might range anywhere from two to eight hours, depending on how active the gorillas are. After you have located the gorillas in Bwindi, you will have only one hour to observe them before being forced to leave.

In the evening, you have the option of participating in a cultural stroll in a local hamlet inhabited by Batwa (Pygmies), during which you will be entertained and told stories about their distinctive way of life.

Day 4: Bwindi to Kibale National Park.
Transfer from Bwindi to the Kibale Forest National Park immediately following an early morning breakfast. After arriving at Fort Portal, you will have lunch there before continuing on to your lodge, where you will check-in, have supper, and spend the night.
Chimpanzee trekking and a trip of the Bigodi swamp are scheduled on Day 4.

The driving guide will transfer you to the park head offices for a briefing after breakfast on the early morning. Then, you will set off on your journey with him. Following the briefing, you will begin your chimpanzee trekking in this rainforest at approximately 8:00 in the morning while being accompanied by the park rangers. It is always an exciting and once-in-a-lifetime experience to come face to face with chimpanzees and witness them engage in their daily routines such as playing, jumping, feeding, and other similar activities. In addition, it is possible to see a variety of other animals, such as the L’Hoest’s monkey, the grey-cheeked mangabey, and many birds.

Following lunch, you are going to go on a nature walk through the Bigodi wetlands. Dinner and lodging as described above are included.

Day 5: Travel back to either Kigali or Kampala
After a leisurely morning spent eating breakfast at your accommodation, you should get ready to make the drive back to Rwanda. Your guide will either leave you off at the hotel you were staying at or at the airport so that you can catch your journey back home.
