4 day Rwanda gorilla trekking expedition to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda mountain gorillas in the wild. This tour involves exploring Kigali city, visiting the Ibyiwacu cultural village, and trekking with the golden monks or hiking with Diane Fossey.
Itinerary for a Tour
Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park on Day 1.
Our company representative will pick you up from your Kigali hotel or the airport and take you on a tour of the city, including the Gisozi genocide site and local markets, before travelling north to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze region, formerly Ruhengeri. Arrive late and check in to Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Volcanoes Lodge (Luxury), Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / La Palme (Mid-range), or Muhabura Hotel (Basic).
Gorilla Tracking – Ibywacu Cultural Village on Day 2
After breakfast at your accommodation, you will depart with the essential tracking equipment and a packed lunch to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on the unforgettable trip with the ranger guides. Because gorillas are wildlife animals in the jungle, the time spent hiking for gorillas is significantly dependent on the gorillas’ current location. However, your ranger guide has a good notion of where they are since he connects with his colleagues who go into the jungle early to track gorilla activities. It is highly recommended that you arrive equipped with the essential equipment and a picnic lunch before embarking on the difficult but entertaining trip. A maximum of one hour with the gorillas is permitted.
After the encounter, return to your accommodation for lunch, and then have a cultural experience at the Ibyiwacu cultural hamlet to learn about Banyarwanda culture in the afternoon. Dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Tracking – Visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.
You will leave early in the morning for another gorilla trekking excursion. After a briefing on gorilla trekking recommendations from a ranger guide, you will enter the forest. It is highly recommended that you visit a different group than the one you visited the day before. Visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera in the afternoon.
Dian Fossey Tomb on Day 3 Hike and transfer to Kigali’s backside
You must visit the Dian Fossey grave and the Karisoke research centre first thing in the morning. After lunch, prepare for the travel back to Kigali and then to the airport for your departure home.
The safari has come to an end.
